Irritable Bowel Syndrome
EFT can help you take control
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a functional bowel disorder of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract characterised by recurrent abdominal pain and discomfort accompanied by alterations in bowel function, diarrhoea, constipation or a combination of both, typically over months or years. It is a common disorder effecting 1 in five people around the World. It affects people of all ages; however women represent over 70% of IBS sufferers. Symptoms range in severity from an occasional mild episode to debilitating, life-altering illness which prevents the individual form working or from functioning normally.
Common symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) may include:
- Abdominal pain and spasm
- Diarrhoea
- Constipation
- Bloated stomach
- Rumbling noises and flatulence
- Urgency - a need to rush and open the bowels
- Incomplete emptying of the bowels
- Mucus/wet back passage
- Incontinence if a toilet is not nearby
- A sharp pain felt low down inside the rectum
- Nausea, belching and vomiting
- Headaches
- Full Bladder Feeling
- Increased Frequency in Urination
Although the symptoms of IBS may be severe and cause a great deal of emotional distress to the sufferer, the disorder itself is not life threatening.
Stress
As with many conditions there are often emotional issues linked with the experience of IBS; by far the most common factor associated with the symptoms of IBS is stress. The vast majority of us can remember a time when our bowel function has been affected by a stressful situation such as before an exam, or an interview, or some big event or family conflict.
IBS can seem to take over
IBS can be a condition which causes slight inconvenience for some but for many people it can appear to govern or rule. It can seem to take over completely even to the extent where it becomes impossible to go to work, or to go out socially. Travelling anywhere away from a toilet can become an immense challenge; the prospect of doing so causing considerable fear. Travelling in one's own car can be difficult enough but travelling by train or bus amidst other people can seem totally impossible and some IBS sufferers wonder if they will ever manage to do so again.
Seeing friends can become difficult especially as those with IBS are very often extremely reluctant to talk about it. They feel embarrassed by their symptoms and possibly embarrassed by experiences they have had, maybe when the toilet wasn't near enough.
Confidence and self-esteem can decrease sharply and there can be considerable sadness or anger present, maybe even guilt from the thoughts of letting others down.
EFT can help!
EFT can work quickly and effectively to address the physical symptoms and the underlying emotional issues. EFT can help manage stress and fear. Out of all the clients I have worked with there has never been a single person who has not been helped by EFT.
Some people find almost instant relief from their symptoms and make very rapid progress. While others are able to very quickly reduce the severity of the symptoms and learn a method to address the stress in their lives and thus avoid IBS attacks that previously would have arisen in those same situations. They then go on to take more and more control of their lives, finding that they can do the things they really want to do. Feeling more motivated, more energetic and happier, becoming free from those previously jailor-like symptoms.
Imagine taking control again … no longer being enslaved! Living life to the full without having to constantly think whether your body will allow you the freedom to act.
Solutions and relief cannot be promised but experience has shown that those are exactly what have been achieved by many with EFT.
